Liquin

I think I will start using Liquin for my layered transparency.

Damar

Damar resin is a mixture of turpentine and damar crystals.
Damar crystals are produced from dammar gum which, according to wikipedia, is obtained "from the Dipterocarpaceae family of trees in India and East Asia, principally those of the genera Shorea, Balanocarpus, or Hopea... the name is a Malay word meaning... torch made from resin." These trees are "typically large forest emergent species, typically reaching heights of 40-70 m tall, with the tallest known living specimen over 80 m tall." Apparently these trees are now endangered due to "overcutting and extensive illegal logging."
As for turpentine , this substance "is a fluid obtained by the complex distillation of resin obtained from trees, mainly various species of Pine... Turpentine is an organic solvent, and thus poses many of the same hazards as do other such substances. It can burn the skin and eyes, damage the lungs and respiratory system, as well as the central nervous system when inhaled, and cause renal failure when ingested, among other things. It is highly flammable."
Damar resin and damar varnish are the essential ingredients in my the oil painting tecnique of layered transparency. LAYERED TRANSPARENCY CAUSES RENAL FAILURE BRAIN DAMAGE AND EXTENSIVE ILLEGAL LOGGING. fuckfuckfuckfuckfuck. FUCK THAT SHIT................................... FUCK DAMAR RESIN!!!!

Luke

I can't say I regret it, but I wish to extend a sincere apology for forcing you to be present when I stole those two $200 trees. I was drunk, and under the influence of what's-her-names apocalyptic thinking concerning Native American spell-casting. Also, it was funny.

FIRST POST

I am working with layered transparency. This will be a recurrent theme in my art and my life for awhile.
