Time.

I got off work today at 5:00pm, went home for a couple of slices of cheese and a beer, and then headed over to a "client's" house. She wasn't there when I showed up, so I checked inside, and her dog flew out the door. I spent the next two and a half hours trying to lure him back inside. I finally got him with a bag of Ghardettos. I can't in good conscience charge the client $45 for my time. 2 1/2 hours wasted. Flushed. Gone. Time is money. There are 365 days in a year, and 24 hours a day, at a rate of $18.00 an hour, that comes out to $157,680/year, about $50,000 less than the average annual income of an anesthesiologist, and roughly 3 times the median family income in Idaho. If I work 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, until I am 73.90 years old (average life expectancy of a white male from Idaho), I will earn approximately $8,183,592, which is just silly. If I only worked 8 hours a day, I would earn $52,560/year. If I took the weekends off, I would make, $37,440/year. Assuming I did take the weekends off, and only worked 8 hours a day, never took a day off, and never got a raise, and didn't have to pay taxes, I would have $720/week to spend on whatever. Of course I will have to pay taxes, so that comes out to more like $612/week, and I probably need to buy about $50 worth of food a week at least, so I would really only have about $562. If I spent around $450/month in rent, I'd have $449.50 left. After a $40/month cell-phone bill, I'd have $439.50. If I spend $20/week on gas, I still have $419.50. That's $62 a day to spend on anything! What will I spend it on?!!!!!!!!!
Well, for starters, car insurance, at roughly $100/month at the very least, considering my speeding record. I could also buy some health insurance (national average: $250/month)! What fun! Oh, and $62.50/month for my student loan. With all that I'd have $269.50/month left over. At least enough for 6 lottery tickets, 3 handles of Jim Beam, one catastrophic injury, child support, and a gym membership. No movies though. Not enough money for movies.
